Brow lift

Deep furrows on the forehead, frown lines between the eyes, drooping eyebrows and hood-like skin over the eyes are all conditions that can make you look older than you are or feel.

Whether age or heredity causes these conditions, a forehead lift (or brow lift) can give you a more youthful, animated and alert appearance.

Dr. Pogue utilizes a special technique (endoscopic procedure) that allows him to make a much smaller incision just above the hairline. Dr. Pogue also performs forehead lifts under local anesthesia supplemented by a mild sedative to keep you relaxed, yet awake. Recovery time is reduced with minimal scarring hidden in your hair. Forehead and brow lifts may be performed alone, or along with other procedures such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.

Most patients are on their feet in a couple of days, and back to work within two weeks. Strenuous exertion, which increases your blood pressure, should be avoided for about a month, along with prolonged exposure to heat or the sun.

Forehead-Lift Description

Brow and forehead lifts are performed to raise eyebrows and reduce furrows and ridges on the forehead, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. As with eyelid lifts, this procedure is often done in conjunction with other surgical procedures.

Forehead and Brow Lift Procedure

  • An incision is made across the top of the head from the front of one ear to the front of the other ear. This incision is made deep within the frontal hairline to hide the resulting scar.
  • The forehead and brows are elevated and excess skin is removed.
  • The flap is sutured.
Some patients may benefit from an endoscopic brow lift, where an endoscope is inserted into smaller incisions in the hairline to elevate the brows.

Complications from brow and forehead lift are relatively few and minor. However, there are inherent risks connected with every surgical procedure. Patients can minimize complications by carefully following the directions given to them by Dr. Pogue.

There are certain inherent risks with all surgical procedures which will be thoroughly discussed with you during consultation.
